Revelation 21:1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. The new earth, the inheritance of the saints, will not have any sea. Why is the first earth covered by 2/3 salt water and 1/3 land? What does the sea represent about the present and why will the sea no longer exist when God creates the new earth in the future
For a moment let us ponder what the sea represents. It is pulled to and fro by the tides and pushed here and there by the wind. It rises up in violant manner and takes the lives of people who live near it as we have recently seen. Tsunamis and hurricanes have taken the lives of many who live near the sea. Have you ever been caught in a rip tide? Many people have perished because of the fear of being dragged out to sea. The solution to the problem is to move away from the current and then swim to land. Those who have been lost at sea drift aimlessly to and fro with the current until someone rescues them. An entire book of Bible is dedicated to one mans quest to hide from God amongst the sea and by the grace of God a great fish swallowed him and brought him back to the land so that he could fulfil God's purpose. You can't drink it's water or quench your thirst by it. There is only one sea level and the only way you can go is down. You can't plant crops on it or recieve a harvest from it yet it represents 2/3's of this earth.
Genesis 1:9-13
Then God said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a third day.In contrast to the sea is the dry ground that God has gathered together. It represents 1/3 of the earth. It rises out of the sea and has many different levels. God has planted seeds on this dry ground in hope that fruit will be produced and this fruit can be harvested. On this dry ground is fresh water that helps the seeds grow and produce fruit and it will also quench the thirst of those who drink it. Rivers and springs of water exist on the earth not in the sea.
The contrast between earth and sea represent the difference between those who have been redeemed in Jesus and those who have not. The decimal equivelant of 2/3= .666 the number of those who perish. Jesus Christ is the promised Seed and when a person receives This Seed they will produce fruit.
The 1/3 land represents the people of God
Matthew 13:23
But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.Galatians 3:29
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.1 Peter 1:23
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.1 John 3:9
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.2 Corinthians 9:10
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,The 2/3's sea represents those who perish
Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.Jude 1:13
raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.Zechariah 13:7-9 "Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!" declares the LORD Almighty. "Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. In the whole land," declares the LORD, "two-thirds will be struck down and perish; yet one-third will be left in it. This third I will bring into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, 'They are my people,' and they will say, 'The LORD is our God.' "
This is when the 2/3's perish Revelation 20:11-15
Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
In God's new creation the 2/3's no longer exist Revelation 21:1
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.Only the 1/3 that has recieved the promised Seed will inherit the new earth, that God will create, and that by the grace of God. God said in Genisis that He gathered the land into one place and placed His Seed so that it would produce it's fruit and His Seed would remain in it. How are we gathered to this one third and how do we produce fruit? How does God gather the dry land from the sea?
Matthew 4:19
And Jesus said to them," Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Jesus has called men to cast their nets into the sea and pull people from the sea onto dry land where His seed can take root and produce the fruits of righteousness that He is looking for. The net that they cast is the gospel of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:13-15
for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED." How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"John 15:4
" Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
