Revelation 11:8
And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. This is clearly a referance to the earthly city of Jerusalem, where our Lord was crucified. The great city, which is Mystery Babylon is also compared to Sodom and Egypt.
Acts 7:34
'I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEN THE OPPRESSION OF MY PEOPLE IN EGYPT AND HAVE HEARD THEIR GROANS, AND I HAVE COME DOWN TO RESCUE THEM; COME NOW, AND I WILL SEND YOU TO EGYPT.'Psalms 146:7
Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free.Moses was a type and shadow of Jesus. Moses came down to set the people of God free from the oppression of Egypt and to establish a temporary covenant with them. Jesus in like manner came down to earth, to Jerusalem, to set us free from the law of sin and death into a spiritual everlasting covenant.
Acts 7:36
"This man led them out, performing wonders and signs in the land of Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.Acts 7:39
"Our fathers were unwilling to be obedient to him, but repudiated him and in their hearts turned back to Egypt,Moses led them out of Egypt by the blood of the lamb, baptism in the Red Sea and miraculous signs into the wilderness. Jesus in like manner led us out of the earthly Jerusalem by His own blood, baptism and miraculous signs and wonders, into a wilderness experience.
We have not entered the promised land yet. We are still dwelling in these tents (earthly bodies) in a wilderness experience. Many are trying to turn God's people back to Egypt (earthly Jerusalem). These men are contrary to Jesus, who is trying to lead us into the true promised land in the heavens.
Philippians 3:17-21
Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.John 14:1-4
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going."Hebrews 11:26
considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.Galatians 4:24-26
These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.Jude 1:5
Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.
